Our new mural

Grace William’s artwork ‘Walking Together in Health and Harmony’ has absolutely transformed the Womens Health Tasmania space. Sprayed with intention and heart along the cottage walls, each colour, symbol, and brushstroke represents something unique and meaningful.

I was lucky enough to see this mural come to life over the many dedicated sessions that Grace put into it. As she sprayed new life into the space, the Winter rain and winds persisted, almost like the elements were here to help her (although sometimes their timing could have been a bit more considerate!).

The most memorable moment of the mural’s creation for me was the day that Grace painted the mountain. She took the back wall, splatted in dirt from being close to the bike rack, and transformed it into the iconic and ever-recognisable backdrop of our city, Kunanyi. All the staff that were working that day ran out to see the finished product, feeling grateful for beautiful mountain that would now watch over us as we ate our lunches.

In Grace’s artist statement she explains that the purple swirls evoke the flowing energy of life, the green lines connect individuals to one another and to Country and the white footprints reflect on the shared responsibility of nurturing physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Seeing these symbols every time we open the gates at WHT is a beautiful reminder of the magic we can all generate when we walk together in health and harmony.

If you’ve visited Women’s Health HQ in North Hobart, you’ll know the magic I’m talking about. And if you haven’t yet seen it for yourself, you’ll have to pop in for a visit! We’d love to have you.

Congratulations to Grace Williams and thank you to the City of Hobart for funding this project.
