Workshops

For the community

We host forums and workshops on various topics of interest to women at various venues, subject to social distancing requirements.  We can also off them on Zoom.  The issues covered range from individual physical health to broader issues which impact on the wellbeing of women. Some of the many topics covered in recent years include mental health, nutrition and exercise, stroke, violence against women, menopause, financial planning, digital technology and brain training.

Workshops currently being offered:

MENTORS IN VIOLENCE PREVENTION (MVP) WORKSHOPS

A coalition of Tasmanian services are delivering workshops in every Tasmanian Local Government Area over the next 12 months.  Join in the conversation in you local community!

The workshops are free.  Numbers are limited, so book early.

Workshops have been rolling out across Tassie since September.  Watch this space for where they'll pop up in the New Year, starting in February.

What is MVP?

MVP gives us the skills to help end violence in our communities by helping us to learn how to be effective bystanders.  Bystanders can confront, interrupt or prevent violence.

The workshop is for the general community, community workers and post-secondary students.  It is highly interactive and starts conversations about how we react to issue ranging from bullying to family violence.

The workshop will give you the chance to develop and practice concrete options you can safely use in a range of situation.  It challenges us all to be leaders and proactive bystanders.

The workshops are funded through a grant provided by the Tas Community Fund to the Hobart Women's Shelter, Women's Health Tasmania, Engender Equality and the Women's Legal Service.

Contact us for more information regarding programs and forums that may be on near you.

For health and community sector professionals

We provide talks and workshops for students and workplaces, subject to social distancing requirements.  We can also offer them on Zoom.  Contact us for more information.
